The Women’s Empowerment and Investment Group (WEIG) in collaboration with Annan Capital Partners (ACP) and Grow, Unite, Build Africa (GUBA), teamed to offer seed investment to women-owned and Ghana-based Small and Medium businesses. This led to the launch “Covid-19 Stimulus Fund” in June 2020, to provide assistance to women-led businesses
affected by COVID-19.
The aim of the initiative was to uplift and provide financial support for Ghanaian based Small and Medium businesses that had been heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative attracted thousands of applicants from various industries including; agriculture, fashion, e-commerce, health, and more.
Following an intensive sorting and audit process, the following businesses have been selected as recipients of this funding
initiative:

Alexander Rowe Properties Ltd – Jennifer Asare Boateng (real estate)
Child Accra Ltd – Dr. Juliette Tuakli (healthcare & public health)
Weetroots Media – Maame Adjei Barwuah – (media)
Patbaf Company Ltd – Duodu Pentila Patricia (waste management)
Clatural Wear Ltd – Clara Pinkrahsam (fashion)
Ecocent Recycling Ltd – Serwaa Emmanuella Gyawu (plastic recycling)
Speaking on the process, Roberta Annan, the Managing Partner of Annan Capital Partners (ACP) added: COVID-19 has affected many women-led businesses and we are therefore, pleased to play a part in mitigating some of its effects. We look forward to working with the selected businesses, to bring them back following the effects of COVID-19. I do hope that this is the beginning of many more of such initiatives.
This initiative is the first of this kind and aims to provide financial relief and business support to the finalists. The COVID-19 The disbursement ceremony will be held in the middle of January 2021.
